June 15, 2019: In the second and final game of the Major Boys Championship Series, the Dodgers edged the Yankees, 3-2, to win the Championship of the PRLL Major Boys Division. Much like Game 1, the pitching on both sides was stellar, but the Dodgers rallied from a 2-1 deficit with two runs in the fourth inning for the winning margin, with the bullpen doing the rest of the work. See Game & Trophy Photos.
In Game 1 of the Championship Series on Thursday, the Yankees and Dodgers had matched up in a 9-inning pitching duel. With the score tied at 1-1 after 8 innings, the Yankees, with three extra base hits, scored 3 times to win, 4-1, to force this deciding game. See Photos of game (link).

AAA PIRATES SHOCK CONGERS IN MacROBBIE OPENER
Sat., June 15, 2019: The Pirates, Champions of PRLL's AAA Division, traveled to Nanuet Little League's fields in Lake Nanuet to take on minor league champions of other Rockland County Little Leagues in the annual Michael MacRobbie Memorial Tournament. In their first game, against Congers, the team fell behind, 8-4, in the third inning, but chipped away with two runs in the fourth inning and two in the fifth to tie the game. The excitement, however, faded as Congers struck for four runs in the bottom fifth to lead 12-8. The Pirates did not give up, and rained hits in the top of the sixth to not only tie the game but take a 13-12 lead, with Terrance Loughlin driving in the tying and go-ahead runs. The Pirates then brought in their closer, Luke DiFabio, who got two quick outs via strikeout before a bloop hit put a man on. A second hit set the wheels in motion, with the Congers baserunner trying to come in to score, but a great defensive play by the Pirates (CF Freddy Palumbo to 3B Cole Feshal to C Liam Walsh) cut the runner down at the plate for the third and final out to set off a wild celebration. The team plays again on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. against either Nanuet or Haverstraw. Update: After 3 days of rain, the Pirates suffered a loss in the single-elimination tournament. But the team had fun and represented PRLL well in the tournament. See Game Photos Here.

8/1/19: The Pearl River 12 year-old baseball all-stars went undefeated (4-0) in pool play, then scored victories in the semi-final and final games to win the annual Arc Tournament, held at New City's Zukor Field. The team posted wins over Suffern, Nyack/Valley Cottage, Nanuet and Stony Point in pool play, gaining the number one seed. Their win over Stony Point in the last pool game avenged an earlier extra-inning elimination loss in the District 18 tournament.
On Thursday 8/1, the team played the semi-final and final. Reed McCarthy and Shane Tobin shut down Suffern with no earned runs, and Ethan Lee (with a smooth 6-3 double play) and Ben Respanti (who ran down a pop up in foul ground from second base position to end the game) provided strong defense in an 8-2 victory.
Ethan Lee started the final against New City (a team they have faced in the three tournaments over the past three years, prevailing each time). Ethan threw 5 and a third shutout innings, leaving the game with a four-run lead and no one on base. New City would not go easy, though, as they rallied with the top of their order to push two runs across and brought the tying run to the plate before the final strike was called.
